Ribbed Alpaca Mitts
Ribbed Alpaca mitts
Two versions of the same pattern, these mitts are explained in both Tunisian crochet in-the-round using a double ended hook and also with instructions to make the same mitts using flat rows, one size, ladies’ medium.
The photograph illustrates the mitts made with a four ply yarn, Drops Alpaca (100% Alpaca four ply yarn, 50g, 183 yds/167m). Also, I recommend Drops Nord (45% Alpaca, 30% Polyamide, 25% Wool, 50g, 186 yds/170m), or any sock yarn.
Any regular crochet terms used are UK terms, but I do state the US equivalent.
The instructions for the mitts worked in flat rows are worked differently for left and right. (If you are left handed, still work as the instructions, they will work out the opposite way around, i.e. left will be right and right will be left). The instructions for the in-the-round mitts are worked both alike as there is no side seam.
The wrist band is optional, but I would suggest securing it in place by sewing along both edges of the whole band to prevent it catching on things.
Notes
Increasing; in this pattern I have increased by making a yarn over and working it as a reverse stitch on the next forward pass.
