Instructions are given for knitting the hat in five sizes:
Newborn
Larger Newborn to 3 months
3 to 6 months
6 to 12 months
Toddler

This is knit “in the round” with a circular knitting needle and finished with double-pointed needles. The brim is made first, before joining, and is very simple, without any kind of insert.

You can also use this pattern to make a ribbed beanie, if you leave off the brim, and then it would be sweet with a big button or bow sewn on.
