I’ve created this cute ribbed baby cardigan using the half double crochet slip stitch or yarn over slip stitch. Everybody these days is in love with this beautiful stitch that mimics the knit stitch and rightfully so. It works up quicker than the actual knit and it takes us back to simpler times all the while looking so cozy and beautiful.

The yarn I’ve used compliments the design and the color is neutral so that it suits both little boys and girls and does not steel focus from neither.

I hope you’ll enjoy making this as much as I enjoyed designing it. You’ll only be needing the basic stitches like the slip stitch, the single crochet and the half double crochet and, if anything is unclear, you also have my own support through messages.

OVERVIEW:

1. The cardigan is worked in 5 pieces: the Back, 2 Front Panels and 2 Sleeves.
2. Each piece is crocheted from side to side.
3. The neckband is crocheted along the neckline after the front and back panels are sewn together.
4. Chain spaces are worked in front edge for buttonholes.

Directions are for size 0-6 months. Changes for sizes 6-12 months, 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years and 7-8 years are in parentheses in the corresponding colors.
