This 21-page PDF crochet pattern pack contains step-by-step instructions (with pictures) on how to make multiple versions of a traditional rice ball/onigiri!

  1. Plain
  2. With sesame seeds
  3. One that is bitten
  4. A wrapped one with a plum/umeboshi in the middle

Just like with regular rice balls, you can use the pattern as a guide to mix and match to create your own personal rice ball!

Materials

  • Yarn: worsted weight yarn of desired color, less than a skein’s worth each.
  • Crochet hook 3.50 mm (US size E)
  • 10 mm plastic safety eyes (x2)
  • Stuffing
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker or contrast color yarn

If you use these materials, the size of each finished rice ball is about 3” wide and 3” tall.
