Ride the Whirlwind Shawl
Keep your shoulders warm & in style this year, while adding color & interest to any outfit. Constructed with easily memorizable patterns, this crescent shaped shawl looks complicated but isn’t. Try it with your favorite variegated, solid colored yarns, or both.
Ride the Whirlwind is an asymmetrical crescent shaped shawl which is sure to attract attention whenever you wear it. Worked with two colors, the design employs several different stitch patterns including slip stitch, drop stitch, stockinette and garter. The different pattern sections alternate or combine the 2 different colors to create a swirling effect reminiscent of a whirlwind.

Blocking Tutorial HERE
Construction: The shawl is worked flat, back and forth, and begins with 4 stitches. The shape is achieved by increasing two stitches at the start of every right side row, decreasing one stitch at the end of the row, & increasing one stitch at the end of every wrong side row. The shawl ends by binding off with a stretchy bindoff.

Take time to check your gauge!
Yardage: Some of my test knitters found that they used more yarn than the pattern called for (I found the 462 yard skeins were enough when I knit my sample), so as always, make sure you have enough yarn when you begin your project! When in doubt, I always buy more than I think I will need :).
