Ridge
MATERIALS
5 skeins of Drops Baby Merino (100% superwash merino wool; 191 yards (175 m)/50 g) or approximately 840m/919 yards of a similar yarn
Photographed in colour 42 (Petrol)
GAUGE
35 stitches x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4”) in the main pattern on the main needle
NEEDLES
Main needle: a pair of straight needles or a circular needle (24” min) in size 3.5 mm (US 4) (or the size needed to obtain the gauge)
For the edges: a pair of straight needles or a circular needle (24” min) in size 3.0 mm (US 3) to make the edge even with the main fabric
FINISHED DIMENSIONS
25 cm (9.8 “) wide; 162 cm (63.8”) long after blocking
ADDITIONAL TOOLS
2 stitch markers to separate the edges from the main pattern, a row counter (I put mine on the wire of the 1st stich marker), blocking wires/pins/combs (optional), a blunt tapestry needle (if using the suggested cast off)
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
The scarf is worked in one piece from end to end. The edges are worked in garter stitch with short rows incorporated to make them even with the main pattern. The main pattern consists of knits and purls which create triangular motifs and may be worked either from the charts or from the written descriptions. You can use your preferred cast-off or the one with the tapestry needle which looks identical to the long tail cast on.
