Ridge Rib Cardigan
The Ridge Rib Cardigan is an easy-wear piece with an open front, designed more like a robe without any buttons. The pattern combines garter stitch and garter rib stitch, creating a simple yet beautiful texture that will keep you engaged as you knit. The open front band is seamlessly knitted with the body, so there’s no need to pick up stitches later. It’s easy to knit and even easier to wear!
The cardigan is worked top-down, starting from the back. The shoulder shaping is first created using short rows, then the back is knitted down to the underarms. Stitches are then transfered from the casted-on edge to knit the front pieces. The right and left fronts are worked separately down to the underarms, where they are joined with the back to continue knitting the body. Stitches are picked up around the armholes to knit the sleeves in the round.
The pattern offers two length options—short and long—but you can easily adjust the length to suit your preference.
