Knit the Ridge Road beanie for a reversible, minimalist hat! All the sections are easy knitting in the round, the crown is a classic circular shape instead of the crisp square I often go for, and you can choose to wear the final product plain or ridge-side out.

I used scraps for my sample, and the .PDF includes crown decreases that are sleek or stitchy; you can substitute either one for the other if you prefer the look. I did the sleek version on the outside (ridge side) and the stitchy one for the lining, so that’s how the instructions are laid out currently.

Materials:

• 240(270, 400) yards or 1 skein of Malabrigo Yarn Sock or similar substitute yarn
• 1 16” circular needle in US2-3/2.75-3.25mm, or size needed for gauge.
• 1 set of 5 DPNs in size needed for gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Removable stitch marker(s)
• smooth scrap yarn compatible with gauge
• crochet hook compatible with yarn (B 2.25mm)

Gauge:
Gauge is 24 sts and 42 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked stockinette stitch, worked flat. Please be sure to check your gauge! This hat should fit the wearer with a little negative ease.

Measurements:
Sizes are 16(17, 18)“/41(43, 46)cm in circumference! Negative ease is recommended for this project; for example, size Medium fits up to 21-22” head circumference. Customization is fairly straightfoward, and you can add depth with pattern repeats if the written-out sizes don’t entirely work.
