Introduction

Do you know Moomin characters? Many of them are using tunic or dress. I was thinking of them, when I was designing this tunic.

This tunic is full of joy (riemu in Finnish). There is also proper amount of anarchism. Striping is not following any regularity and is different in all three areas: body and two sleeves.

Riemu is knitted top down. Saddle shoulders give nice fit and are simple to knit. Beginning is knitted flat until o-shape neckline is done. Then rest is knitted in the round. Sleeves are loose and have long ribbing. Neckline is knitted last.

You need main color and several contrast colors. There are three contrast colors in pattern, but you can use as many as you wish.
Increases in body are both in charts and written format. List of pictures and charts is at the end of the pattern. Pattern is technically edited.

• Yarn consumption with tunic in the pictures (size M) was 1870m: MC 800m, CC1 382m, CC2 400m, CC3 282m.

Needles

• Circular needles 3.0 mm / US 2½ for body and sleeves - Or any other needle size to meet the gauge in stockinette stitch.
• Recommended: Smaller size circular needles 2.0 mm / US 0 for cuffs and neckline.
• Circular needles length 80cm / 32” or longer AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round.
• There is no exact demand of circular needle length as long as, all stitches fit to needles.

Other

14 stitch markers, tapestry needle, crochet hook, extra yarn (or circular needles) for sts waiting for knitting.

Known errors in version 1

23 should be: “rep rows 21-22 another x times”
27 should be: “rep rows 25-26 another x times”
“Chart rows 1-63 …” should be “Chart row 63: k stripes until you reach chart row 63”
After 214, 230-236 should be 215-228
After 229, 215-228 should be 230-236
