This cosy, textured pixie bonnet would make a delightful addition to any child’s wardrobe. The name ‘Riffle’ comes from the lovely double moss stitch, which reminds me off a riffle in a stream – a rocky, shallow section with fast-flowing water.

The bonnet, worked in one piece, provides great coverage to keep the child’s head and ears warm and features an adjustable strap to allow for longer wear. The rib stitch band allows for a snug fit around the child’s face and head, while the garter stitch around the neck allows for a softer, yet still snug, fit.

You will need 4mm (6US) circular needles, or a set of 4mm (6US) straight needles, a needle for sewing the back seam, ends and button, and - of course - a button!

Sizes: Premie/Small Newborn, 0-9m, 9-24m and 2-5 years

Yarn: Superfine Merino by Cleckheaton (or any 8ply/DK merino)

This pattern uses between approximately 27 and 55g of yarn - perfect for using up leftovers!
Gauge: 22sts to 10cm in moss stitch. Row gauge is unimportant, but approx. 40 rows to 10cm.
