Riffles Beanie
The Riffles Beanie is an easy-to-knit, textured hat that is suitable for men and women both.
I was inspired by “riffles”, the shallow areas of streams where the water flows unevenly over rocks. When I first met my husband, an avid fly fisher, he would tell me all about the submerged logs and boulders at each place we fished, pointing out where a fish was sure to be hiding. Not only was he almost always right, he really changed the way I look at a stream.
The Riffles Beanie makes use of slipped stitches to create a slight ebb and flow to the fabric of the hat body. When the hat is stretched or worn, the pattern becomes more pronounced. I would suggest planning to wear the hat with a little negative ease so that the stitch pattern is more evident. The adult medium pattern will fit most adults comfortably, and the larger pattern is best suited to those with very large heads.
