Rindy Jane is a sweater pattern written in three gauges (15/22, 16/24, and 17/25) and graded to sixteen sizes. That seems like an awful lot of numbers to sort on a few sheets of paper tucked in a knitting bag, right?

There is no need to print the 40 pages in this pattern. Instead, print the page about making a gauge swatch, make your swatch, and determine your gauge.

Next, follow the directions for printing a layered pattern, where you will learn how to single out an 8-page pattern booklet with only the numbers for your size. This is a job to be done on a computer, not a tablet or a phone.

If you prefer a traditional pattern with all the sizes covered, master patterns are also included with the numbers in strings (for example, 30-32-34-36---38-40-42-44---46-48-50-52---54-56-58-60).

I use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC -- it is free. If your pdf reader does not support layers, you can use a master pattern to get started on your sweater. In the meantime, you are welcomed to send me an email from the email you used to purchase the pattern requesting the pattern in the gauge and size you have chosen. My hope is you already have the yarn for this sweater, or maybe you’ve been eyeing a special yarn and not had a pattern to match. This design is a blank canvas -- I encourage you to make your mark on it. All the modifications shown here are included in the instructions.

The body and sleeves of this sweater are knit in the round from the hems to the underarms and joined on one long needle. The yoke splits at the center front and is worked back and forth, and the raglan lines and the neckline are shaped at the same time. The collar and the placket stitches are picked up from the neckline’s unfinished edges.

Please note: there is a tool to estimate specific yardage included in the pattern. The yardage stated on the cover is a very rough estimate, your mileage may vary. For example:

The icelandic colorwork sweater requires 1-1-1-1---1-1-1-2---2-2-2-2---2-2-2-2 skeins of Lettlopi Ash for CC1, 5-5-5-6---6-6-7-7---7-8-8-9---9-9-10-10 skeins of Lettlopi Golden Heather for the main color, and about 10 yards of Lettlopi White for CC2.
