Ripple Effect Cowl
We had spent the November day I dreamt up this pattern driving up and down the shore of Lake Superior, and there was a strong offshore wind, creating these ripples on the surface of the already riled up lake, and that’s how the name was born.
To create the vision I had, I stacked some yarn overs in a way that created a wave of them up the cowl, giving a ripple effect. I also wanted the same ease of the ditch-the stitch marker style of some of my other patterns, like the Gales of November. I am so pleased with how it turned out.
I wear this type of cowl 3 seasons out of the year in northeast Minnesota. The cowl is knit in the round from the bottom up. I’ve written the pattern to be made in one size with a single 90-yard skein of super bulky yarn
