This is my favourite placemat so far. This undulating oval was inspired by the summer on the north shore of Nova Scotia, where the sea and sand bars are a gentle vista of wavy lines. You can use any cotton, but it was designed for (and looks best in) heavy fingering to light sport weights. You will need a regular crochet hook in whatever size suits your yarn, plus a double-ended Tunisian hook (4mm is probably good for most yarns in this range). Finished sizes are given in the pattern for 3 specific cotton yarns that I have tested and are easy to purchase online, but feel free to experiment with indie dyed cottons and cotton-linen blends with this one. The result will be worth it! As always, all techniques in the pattern are explained with photos and videos on my Youtube channel.
