I wanted a ripple shawl that used variegated yarn. Something a little psychedelic! I wanted the ripples / chevrons / zigzags to be horizontal, when I wore the shawl.

I like that the ripples change the way the variegation comes out and adds just enough texture without being too busy (with a colourful yarn).

This pattern would work with any variegated fingering weight yarn. I think a short to medium length colour repeat would look the most interesting. But I’m sure it would be great with a longer repeat, too.

I used 2 skeins for my shawl, had a few metres left over.

I ‘aggressively’ blocked my shawl as I wanted it to open up and the ripples points to be visible on the top and bottom.
