This tile is crocheted in mosaic overlay technique, in the round. This implies that there are no numerous ends to fasten off, just two for each color used. The technique is not difficult, just pay close attention to the stitch placement in the chart.

Ripples is made in 20 rounds, starting with a magic circle. Stitches used are (all in US terms): slip stitch, chain stitch, half double crochet, single crochet in back loop only, double crochet in front loop only.

Each tile that is made with DK weight yarn (115-130 m per 50 g skein) will measure about 25 cm and weigh about 50-55 g.

Acrylic yarns, cottons or a mixed fiber all will work well.

This tile can be combined with other tiles I designed to create a big throw, blanket or bedspread. Look for those tiles in my Ravelry store.

The pattern includes a chart, written instructions and photos to illustrate certain stitches or techniques. It also has a link to a free pattern, the ‘Stardust Tile’, which has more elaborate instructions and video links, for the novices to mosaic crochet.

Have fun with this rather addictive technique!
