Rising to the Occasion
Rising to the Occasion is an asymmetric triangle shawl with an interesting lace border. A salute to the spirit of every woman who ever stood up for herself or for others, the shawl has stockinette sections interspersed with wavy lace segments to depict the regular ups and downs in each of our daily lives and these go on to become a spectacular lace border that portrays what we are capable of when the need arises, when the call comes to Rise to the Occasion.
This shawl is part of the Happiness Make Along 2018, an annual event that brings together dyers, designers and makers from different parts of the world. In this year’s event, 9 designers have collaborated with 4 indie dyers to bring out some unique designs based on the theme Women and Water. Come join us for for fun, comraderie, chatting and prizes at Happiness Make Along Group!
Rising to the Occasion has been made with the gorgeous Yaksha yarn from A Hundred Ravens in the custom dyed colorway Alpenglow, a whimsical combination of pinks, fanciful violet and smoky lavender that are displayed with a rich depth in this yak fiber blend. The yarn was an absolute joy to work with!
