About this pattern:
• Pattern is written in English with standard US terms.
• As I am a right-handed, this pattern is written with right-handed crocheters in mind, left-handed crocheters should crochet in different direction.
• This pattern is suitable for advanced beginner crocheters, it is made up from basic stitches.
• This crochet pattern works in continuous rows.
About this top:
• This is a wrap top with fitted waist and drape detail on the bust
• This top looks best in cropped length (the bottom edge of your top falls on your waist).
• This top is made up from one continuous panel.
• I used bottom – top construction method for this top, we are going to start working from the waist all the way to the shoulder
• There will be two type of drape for this top
First drape option: Sleek drape – less drape, sleek look.
As per my testers suggested, I added the less drape option Highly recommended for those who want to make their bust less accentuated, would recommend ladies who has larger bust circumference to choose the less drape option.
Second drape option: Dramatic drape – accentuate the bust.
Suitable for smaller bust circumference as it will give more definition to your bust (make your bust look fuller)
p.s: I know some might say that my written pattern looks so intimidating because of the oh so many pages
and the supplementary excel spreadsheet. But don’t worry, this long pdf file means there are tons of
step by step picture and diagrams to help you get through it.
++ with the excel spreadsheet, you won’t need to do math, the excel will do it for you
(because I know, I am not the only one who hate math, and I am not the only one who are just too lazy to match gauge).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DIGITAL
CROCHET PATTERN AND TUTORIAL ONLY,
NOT A FINISHED ITEM / PRODUCT.
There will be NO physical item, product, material or tools to be send.
All the pattern and instruction is written in English, using standard US terms.
Materials & tools needed:
• #1 Fingering weight yarn / #2 Sport weight yarn / #3 DK weight yarn
• Respective crochet hook for any weight yarn that you choose and one size larger hook (one size larger means 3.00 mm and 3.50 mm, 4.00mm and 4.50 mm, etc).
Note: if your tension is on the tighter side, would recommend you to size up your hook or else the ribbing part will be super though.
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
• Measuring tape / ruler
Yarn usage based on my measurement (bust 81 cm, waist 69 cm)
- Dramatic drape (DK): Top height 35 cm, crop length top, I used approximately 140g ( ±380m) of #3 DK weight milk cotton 4ply in burnt orange, used 3.50mm hook
- Dramatic drape (FINGERING): Top height 35 cm, crop length top, I used approximately 140g ( ± 490m) of #1 fingering weight silk cotton blend yarn orchid, used 2.50mm hook
- Dramatic drape (FINGERING): Dress length 90 cm, crop length top, I used approximately 450g ( ± 1600m) of #1 fingering weight silk cotton blend yarn orchid, used 2.50mm hook
- Sleek drape (DK): Top height 35 cm, crop length top, I used approximately 105g ( ± 280m) of #3 DK weight milk cotton 4ply in grey, used 4.00mm hook
- Sleek drape (FINGERING): Top height 35 cm, crop length top, I used approximately 110g ( ± 380m) of #1 fingering weight silk cotton blend yarn baby blue, used 2.50mm hook Note: if you used 100% pure cotton yarn, you have to double the weight as it is heavier than cotton and acrylic blend. (How much yarn you required is highly depends on the yarn weight, yarn type, crochet hook size, your tension, bust size, I put the detailed info on how much yarn does each testers used in the lookbook)
Yarn recommendation:
- Denser type of yarn in heavier weight (such as pure cotton / cotton blend in sport or DK weight) will create boxier, more constructed and puffier piece.
- Lighter weight yarn and silky type of yarn (such as bamboo or silk blend yarn) will create more drape and it will look more delicate. Crochet hook reference (hook size that I used for my rita):
- #3 DK weight acrylic blend yarn (more structured): 4.00 mm for FC, 3.50 mm for everything else
- #3 DK weight acrylic blend yarn (more airy): 4.50 mm for FC, 4.00 mm for everything else
- #1 fingering weight silk cotton blend yarn: 3.00 mm for FC, 2.50 mm for everything else
