No matter what colour it is made in, this motif essentially embodies the spirit of Rivendell as Tolkien portrayed it, whether the Rivendell of the happy, singing, charming elves in The Hobbit, or the Rivendell of the seemingly serene, strict, wise elves of The Lord of the Rings. Imagination is the only limit for this motif.

I originally made this motif for a scarf my sister begged and pleaded for, despite my insistence that no, this yarn is NOT appropriate for a scarf. Surprise, surprise, almost 8 years later and the damn thing hasn’t been worn once.

The motif was very loosely based on the “Vintage Lace Scarf” pattern from Sensual Crochet by Amy Swenson. However, already hating the project, I found I didn’t actually like the motif in the book, so I improvised one. Instructions are both charted and written.
