Description
Based on a watercolor sketch by Tolkien himself, the Rivendell Pullover combines intricate colorwork with simple construction to create a piece that is as fun to knit as it is to wear!
Each piece is knit flat and seamed together at the end. The design on the front of the sweater is knit intarsia, following Chart A. Once the sweater is complete, details are added on top of the intarsia design in duplicate stitch following Chart C. I find that breaking down the colorwork into two steps makes the pattern more accessible to beginners, however, a more confident knitter may choose to simply follow Chart C and combine intarsia and stranded colorwork.
For sizes 1X and above, I’ve included an optional Chart B that creates an ornate frame around the original colorwork pattern. If you would prefer not to include this pattern, simply knit the stitches in Chart B in White.
The Rivendell Pullover has approximately 10” of positive ease in the body, and 4” of positive ease in the sleeves.

Optional: 11 stitch markers – I like to have a stitch marker every 10 stitches of Chart B to help keep my place.
