River Pebbles Shawl
This pattern was designed for the 2023 Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl Make-A-Long, which is an annual summer MAL that gets everyone in the mood for the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl. This yarn crawl is largely centered around Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas. I designed this shawl with the lake in mind. If you’ve ever walked into the shallows of the lake, you know there are river pebbles GALORE to step on. If you pick up one of those pebbles and toss it into the lake, you get beautiful ripples. The stripes in the River Pebbles Shawl represent the ripples, and the double crochet cluster rows represent the beautiful river pebbles.
It’s time to go stash diving and join in this year’s make-a-long! I’ve designed 2 versions of the River Pebbles Shawl - one in DK weight and one in fingering weight. Each version uses just 2 skeins - I recommend a variegated and a coordinating tonal/solid, but go crazy with your colors!
This is the listing for the Fingering Weight version. There is a separate listing for the DK weight version.

- The blocked size of the shawl is 72 inches (183cm) wingspan x 17.5 inches (44.5cm) depth at center.
- Gauge (fingering) - 24 sts = 4 inches (10cm) in hdc, ch1 (modified linen stitch). Row gauge is not as important as stitch gauge for this piece.
The pattern purchase includes 2 PDFs - one is detailed row-by-row instructions with stitch counts for every row, and the other is a more printer-friendly version that details your setup row with beginning stitch count and your 4 pattern repeat rows, then gives basic repeat instructions for all subsequent rows (ending stitch count is included).
