This hat begins with a soft purled brim and finishes with a soft slouch. The eyelet border adds beautiful detailing to Rivulet’s goes-with-anything simplicity and keeps it interesting. Make this in your favorite color and you’ll find yourself reaching for it again and again.
YARN REQUIREMENTS
Smaller hat requires one skein or approx. 150 yds/138m.
Larger hat requires 2 skeins or approx. 175 yds/160m.
GAUGE
Suri Merino adapts beautifully to various gauges and for this hat, two different gauges are used. The band below the eyelet border is knit at a tighter gauge which keeps the stockinette from stretching out. A slightly looser gauge begins at the eyelet border and creates a softer, slouchier drape on the remainder of the hat.
23 sts & 32 rnds = 4”/10cm in stockinette on bottom band (unblocked);
21 sts & 29 rnds = 4”/10cm in stockinette on remainder of hat (unblocked).
NEEDLES
The hat is worked in the round with circular needles from bottom to crown. You’ll begin with the smaller sized ones, and switch to the larger ones for the change in gauge. The crown shaping is completed with double pointed needles.
Suggested needle sizes: one 16”/41 cm circular, 3.25mm/US 3; and one 16”/41cm circular and set of dpn’s, 4mm/US 6.
