This cowl variation of my “Road to Joy Shawl” incorporates all of the beautiful stitches in the shawl, including my favorite…Bricks! They’re so great for showing off color changes.

This cowl was knit in 2 colors with the MC being a yarn that changes colors and the CC a solid. Of course it would be equally beautiful knit in 2 solids or a solid and a speckle. You can even work in a third color if you’d like, with 1 color for the texture section and a different color for the brick section, keeping the CC for transitions and the lace section.

One model used Scheepjes Our Tribe yarn (slow color changes)
MC - 1 skein 974 Curio Crafts Room
CC - 1 skein 880 Silver Birch

The other model used Shepherd’s Wool Crazy and Shepherd’s Wool 2 ply sport in a solid.
MC - 2 skeins Shepherd’s Wool Crazy
CC - 1 skein Shepherd’s Wool Sport - Granite

This was enough yarn to knit the cowl and my Road to Joy Hat!

To knit just the cowl you will need approximately 300 yards of MC and 170 yards of CC.
