Road Trip Yarn Bowl
This pattern is
available for free.
You can actually knit or crochet this project. It is a project you can make with 7 hexagons plus 2 halves. It was originally designed to coincide with the 2015 Central Kansas Yarn Hop. It is a great project for using up those scraps that you don’t know what to do with but you can’t bear to throw it away.
I said it is made with bulky yarn, but I actually used 2 strands of worsted yarn held together. One of the yarns was a main color that was used in all of the hexagons to tie them together. A smaller needle than usual is used for the weight to get a firm fabric.
I used the Pinwheel Dishcloth pattern by Abigail 1870 pearl for my hexagon pattern. It is free here on Ravelry.
