These cute little booties are from a 1921 Needlework magazine. They are knitted flat on 2 needles and easy and fun to work. I’ve converted the yarn and needle sizes and updated the instructions for today’s knitter.

Skills required:

This pattern is suitable for an intermediate knitter or adventurous newer knitter. You will be shaping through increases and decreases, working a simple lace pattern (eyelets), and working a simple knit/purl pattern. You will also do a bit of seaming. All instructions are provided within the pattern.

Materials:

Yarn: One skein fingering weight yarn. The original pattern called for 1 oz Saxony, which is roughly fingering weight. I used Nature Spun in Sea Spray which comes in 4 oz skeins and have most of it left.

Ribbon: You will need some narrow ribbon to thread through the eyelets if you so choose. 18” will be ample.

Needle size:

Size 3 US (3.25 mm) straight, circular, or 2 dpns.

Gauge:

8 sts per in in garter st.

Size:

4” long x 3” high. Larger or smaller sizes can be worked by using Sport weight for a larger size and Lace weight for a smaller size.
