Is there anything more comforting than the sweet and nutty smell of roasting chestnuts in late fall? For many years, my mother and I used to visit New York City the weekend before Thanksgiving. As soon as we’d step off the bus that deep smoky scent from the nut cart would fill our senses and make a great big city seem much smaller and more welcoming.

This tri-fold pillow design was inspired by the rich color and bumpy texture from freshly roasted chestnuts. The pillow is worked flat with buttons in the back for closure. The front panel features an all over cable pattern. The bottom back panel is worked in double rib. The top back panel is worked in stockinette stitch divided by three cables. The sides are seamed with a one-inch overlap.

The Roasted Chestnuts pattern was formerly known as the “Flurry and Frost Pillow” from November 2014 Eunice’s Choice club subscription pattern from Three Irish Girls.
