Robe of Glory

This Robe of Glory sweater design was created in 1979, inspired by the traditional Fair Isle knitting of the islands off the northern coasts of Scotland.

It is said that a special sweater would be knitted for a young man at the time that he reached adolescence.

The motif sequence tells a life story in symbols - so I have knitted many personalised versions of this…

A classic traditional gansey.
