Robinia Mittens
ROBINIA MITTENS are mittens with a classic fit and a
feminine look. The mittens are worked in stockinette stitch in a
simple stranded pattern.
The mittens can be worked in two sizes as hands come in
different lengths. The pattern also describes how to add extra
length if you need a longer mitten than size 2 provides.
I have also used thinner yarn to knit the ROBINIA MITTENS
for kids, thus creating mittens in size 5-6 years and 7-8 years.
Size
Sizes: 1 (2)
Length: 23 (25) cm
circumference: 21 cm
Needles
2.5 mm and 3 mm double-pointed needles
Optional: smaller double-pointed needles for picking up the
thumb stitches
Gauge
23 sts x 30 rows in PATTERN on a 3 mm needle = 10 x 10 cm
I recommend knitting a swatch before starting the project. Wash
and dry the swatch before measuring the gauge. Adjust your
needle size accordingly, as a single stitch more or less across 10
cm can considerably change the fit of the finished mitten.

The kids’ mittens are worked following the pattern for the adult
mittens; only the yarn and the size of the needles are changed as
follows:
The rib is worked on 2 mm needles, and after the rib, the
needles are changed to 2.5 mm.
Follow the pattern for size 1 to create size 5-6 years mittens and
the pattern for size 2 for 7-8 years.
