The Rock Island Beanie is in knit with large horseshoe cables. The stitch pattern itself is worked in multiples of 21 stitches and a repeat of 8 rows.

The Gauge for this pattern is measured over the 21 stitch
pattern repeat. The large horseshoe cables are knit over 16
stitches, followed by 2 purls, 1 slipped or knit stitch and then
2 last purls. When measuring the gauge before knitting the
beanie, make sure you have wet blocked your swatch. Allow
the fabric to completely dry before measuring and then,
allow the swatch to lay naturally, without stretching, pulling
or reshaping to measure the gauge.

Our pattern caters to all ages: baby/small toddler, larger toddler/teen/small adults, and large adults. Whether you’re knitting for your little one or yourself, you’ll find the perfect fit.

The folded over ribbing makes a nice and stretchy brim for the beanie, and also will fit almost any size of head. For an extra slouchy style, make the larger size, for a less slouchy style, make the smaller size and add additional length before beginning the crown decreases.
