Rock Lobster Toe-up Sock
You can stop petting that variegated yarn and knit a sock. :) The “Claw Cable” makes variegated or striped yarns share the stage. Sock is constructed toe-up with cables spanning instep and leg. It has a short row heel with mini gusset and mini heel flap. Pattern options include tapered or rounded toe, generic or calculated foot length, and Russian or picot bind off.
SIZING: Sock will stretch about 1.5-2 inches (3.8- 5.1cm).
Small: Total stitches 66; circumference ball of foot about 6.5 inches (16.5 cm), length of foot 8.75 inches (22.2 cm), shoe size US 6-7 (EU 36-37), about.
Medium: Total stitches 74; circumference ball of foot about 7.0 inches (17.8 cm), length of foot 9.25 inches (23.5 cm), shoe size US 7.5-8.5 (EU 38-39)
Large: Total stitches 82; circumference ball of foot 8.0 inches (20.3 cm), length of foot 10.0 inches (25.4 cm), shoe size US 9-10 (EU 40-41)
GAUGE: In stockinette in round - 8.75 stitches, 12 rows per inch (3.4 stitches, 4.7 rows per cm) on size US 1, 2.25 mm needles. Use needle and yarn weight to obtain gauge and proper fabric density or adjust size for gauge.
MATERIALS:
Yarn: ~ 1 skein Heavy Fingering Weight/Light Sport ~400 yds (366 m)/100 g; Sample made with Miss Babs, Cosmic, (400 yds/113)g, 80% SW merino/20% nylon, color Believable.
Needles: One or two 24-inch circular needle size US 1 (2.25 mm).
Other: Darning Needle, 3 closed stitch markers, cable needle.
DIFFICULTY: Intermediate - Pattern written by right-handed, English style knitter and assumes chart reading, toe-up sock knitting, and cable knitting experience. Modify for your preferred knitting method.
