I created this pattern for Christmas and put the little Rock Partridge into a pear tree and gave them to my daughters as presents. They loved it.

The Rock Partridge is a beautiful Southern European bird with interesting black and white strips and a small red beak.

This little bird will sit in the palm of your hand and make a cute toy for a loved one.

You’ll need scraps of 8 ply yarn in five colours; red, grey, black, white and brown. Also a small amount of stuffing and a darning needle.

The pattern is knitted on straight needles using a mix of intarsia and fair isle colour work. The pattern is knitted in one piece starting at the tail and ending at the tiny red beak.

The PDF for the pattern includes pictures for each step, helpful hints and abbreviations.
