Knit the Rock Salt beanie all flat with no seaming, using just one circular needle! This hat is both unique and interesting to knit, and fairly traditional—you can block it into a roundish crown shape or block it to emphasize the squarishness of it for a cat-ears effect.

The .PDF currently includes three sizes—s(m, l). More incremental sizes are possible, but I’m debating on adding them—let me know your thoughts!

Materials:

• 100(130, 240) yards of Noro Silk Garden Sock
• 1 24” circular needle in US 3-4/3.25-3.5mm or size needed for gauge, used to work flat; a flexible cable is nice to have
• Crochet hook, 2.25-4.0mm, for cast-ons (this crochet cast-on is not provisional!)
• Tapestry needle
• Removable stitch marker(s)

Gauge:
Gauge is 20 sts and 36 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked stockinette stitch, worked in the round. Please be sure to check your gauge!

Measurements:
This cap is written for three sizes—s(m, l), 7(8.25, 9.5)“/18(21, 24)cm height, 8.25(9.5, 10.75)”/21(24, 27)cm width, and about 16.5(19, 21.5)“/42(48, 55)cm circumference.
Some negative ease is recommended for a traditional beanie fit.
The size shown in the purple-and-grey sample is medium, which is a little large on the form shown, and should fit most average adults.
