Rocking Back Inside My Heart – Sweater is freely inspired by the 90’s TV show Twin Peaks created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. The pattern is both a tribute to Julee Cruise, who created the song with same title as the pattern as well as to the character Donna Hayward, who wore the original sweater several times in the show.

The original sweater is unique with its bow at the neck. My interpretation of Donna’s sweater is knitted in the round from bottom up in two threads, first with ribbing, then stocking stitches. The front and back piece are divided and knitted back and forth to create armholes, and finally they are assembled at the shoulders. The sleeve stitches are picked up along the armholes and knitted in stocking stitches, finally in rib, and casted off with Italian bind off. The bow is knitted in extension of the neckline with stocking stitches, so that the right side is at the inner side, until it bends, where it is on the outside. The bow is a bit thicker than the original and is tied with a simple knot, but it still has the same expression and makes the sweater extra unique and festive.
