About the pattern
The socks are knit from the toe up to the cuff with a gusset-heel flap heel. The pattern is made with twisted stitches, purls and travelling stitches.
For this kind of heel, it is important to start with the gusset in time, therefore I have included tips and tricks on sizing in the pattern.
Sizes
X-Small (Small) Medium (Large) X-Large
The sock’s circumference round the ball of the foot is 15 (17.5) 20 (22.5) 25, to fit foot circumferences of 16-20 (18,5-22,5) 21-25 (23,5-27,5) 26-30 cm
The length of the sock is adjustable.
Yarn
Sandnes Sisu 80% wool/20% nylon, 175 metres per 50 g or other sock yarn in heavy fingering weight, approx. 350-400 metres per 100g
Calculated skeins of Sandnes Sisu:
2 (2) 2 (2) 3 skeins of Sandnes Sisu
Calculated meterage:
240 (270) 300 (330) 370 metres
Note that the meterage can differ depending on how long the foot is knitted.
Needles & Notions
8 stitch markers
2 cable needles, it works well with toothpicks as well
1 unique stitch marker for BOR m
1 clip marker
Tapestry needle
Needles for working on a small circumference in size to obtain gauge, e.g. circular needles of at least 80 cm, DPNs, 23 cm circulars or CrazyTrios/FlexiFlops.
When knitting the sample, gauge was obtained on 2.5 mm needles.
Note that I am a tight knitter so you may need to go down one or two needle sizes to obtain gauge.
Gauge
34 sts and 45 rnds = 10x10 cm in stocking stitch after blocking
34 sts and 58 rnds = 10x10 cm in leg pattern after blockning
Normally I would recommend knitting a swatch to make sure your gauge is correct.
When knitting socks, the toe can serve as a swatch, just be prepared that you might need to start the toe over again if your gauge is too much different from the pattern.
Thank you!
Thank you so much for all the help I got from the test knitters and proofreaders!
