Roebling is a hat pattern inspired by my favorite Brooklyn neighborhood (DUMBO) and one of my favorite New York City sites—the Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge was conceived by German immigrant and civil engineer John Augustus Roebling in 1852, and became a real family affair when his son, Washington, and his wife, Emily, saw the bridge to its beautiful completion! The Brooklyn Bridge and the waterfront at DUMBO are some of my most favorite places on earth. No matter what time of year or what time of day, this is a place that holds the happiest of memories. In the summer and autumn especially, one of my most favorite things to do is ride the 6 train to the Brooklyn Bridge stop in Manhattan, and the walk across the bridge at sunset to the Brooklyn borough.
