Looking for more of this addictive and adorable stitch pattern? I also have a matching pattern for Rogue Socks!
As someone who reads a lot of historical romance, I’m very familiar with the Rogue archetype--a charismatic scoundrel with a flexible moral code, a sly smile, and a heart of gold. Even beyond historical romances, though, rogues are everywhere in pop culture, from Han Solo to Catwoman to Robin Hood.
Like the characters it’s named after, the Rogue hat is charming with its distinct bubble stitch pattern and unabashedly fun (both to wear and to knit!) but it’s also surprisingly practical with a folded brim to keep your ears extra warm!
The Rogue Hat is knitted from the brim up with a plush, folded, ribbed brim and a bubble stitch motif all over the body.
Sizes:
Baby: 40.75cm/16in
Toddler: 43.25cm/17in
Child: 45.75cm/18in
Adult Small: 48.25cm/19in
Adult Medium: 50.75cm/20in
Adult Large: 53.25cm/21in
Note: The sizes listed above refer to the circumference of the hat un-stretched. I suggest choosing a size that is approximately 5cm/2in smaller than the head of the intended wearer for a snug but comfortable fit.
Gauge
16 stitches x 28 rounds per 10cm/4in on 5mm needles in bubble stitch.
Yarn
1 (1) 1 (2) 2 (2) balls of Ístex Léttlopi (100% Icelandic Wool, 50g/100m).
The sample is knit in the shade Milkway.
Needles
The pattern is written using small circular needles and magic loop, but can be worked using double pointed needles, depending on your preference. You’ll need 4mm needles for the cuff of the hat and 5mm needles for the body, or size required to meet gauge.
