The Rolf Laura hat is shamelessly inspired by a Ralph Lauren hat I saw in a shop a few years ago and thought “I could easily knit that”. Since the original hat is no longer available I figured it would be ok to release the pattern.

The hat is knit bottom up and to get a neat edge for the k2p2 ribbing a tubular cast on is recommended. However, if you prefer to do a tubular bind off instead of a cast on, the pattern includes this as an option as well.
Or, if you are not fussed about a neat k2p2 edge, just use your favorite method for casting on!

Sizes
Teen/adult small (adult medium, adult large)

Finished hat circumference
45.5 (48.5, 53.5) cm / 17.9 (19, 20.8) inches.
For best fit the hat should be knit with 5-10 cm / 2-4 inches of negative ease

Length
Brim unfolded: 32.5 cm / 12.8 inches
Brim folded: 26.5 cm / 10.5 inches

Yarn
200 (210, 230) meters / 220 (230, 250) yards of DK weight yarn.
You can substitute with two strands of fingering weight yarn by doubling the estimated quantities for DK.
The sample is knit in three strands of Majo - Tweed Supreme (100% merino, 350m per 50g) and used 90g/625 meters

Yarn alternatives
Majo - Tweed Supreme (100% merino, 350m per 50g), three strands together
Oslo Mikrospinneri – Osloull (70% wool, 30% silk, 230m per 50g), two strands together
Sandnes Garn – Peer Gynt (100% wool, 90m per 50g), one strand.
