The fit on these mitts is meant to be loose and slouchy, so gauge is not super important. If you are a very tight knitter, go up a needle size, or down a needle size for a very loose knitter. These are extremely luxurious in the 100% alpaca Herriot. Any light worsted to worsted weight yarn can be used.
