The braid for this pattern is directly from Anna Burda Magazine (the reason for the European crochet terms too). It is a very traditional braid pattern.
This braid is not designed to be unravelled from either end - that is a different type of braid, resulting in a different look. This is the braid I personally prefer for Romanian Point Lace.
