Rombik
This year I would like to design and knit several shawls for some friends who have been kind to me over the years. This is the second design in the series of Shawls for Friends with more to come. Visit my Ravelry project page to see the upcoming designs in this series.
Other published designs in this series:
Queen V
Bougainvillea
Fire Spirit
My thoughts going into this series of designs for friends are:
- to use the color I know they love and wear;
- design a shawl to complement their lifestyle and personality;
- make future blocking easier for them by keeping the borders easy to block, since most of them are not knitters;
I designed and knitted this shawl for my friend Helen, who I was lucky to meet few years ago through our kids being on the same swim team. We teamed up as well and I am always looking forward to our walks, hikes and conversations. I hope she will like this surprise shawl ;-)
Rombik shawl features combination of clean lines and rhombus silhouettes set in the garter stitch. The shawl is knitted bottom-up. It is completely reversible and there are no purl stitches in this design. Grab your favorite yarn and have fun knitting.
Instructions are charted only.
Finished Size
After blocking, sample shawl measures 170cm (67 inches) long along the top edge and 73cm (29 inches) deep.

One pattern repeat of 12 sts x 24 rows after blocking measures 11cm x 9cm. Adjust your needle size to suit your yarn and achieve the size and the look of the shawl of your choice.
