Romper
I can be easily irritated by people who will only buy yarn if the end product is cheaper than store bought. I don’t want cheaper - I want better. So I bought this $27 ball of yarn just to prove to some people I know that they need to think outside the box.
Rant over.
The overalls were fun cos I don’t like seams. I started with a provisional cast-on at the crotch and worked up in the round finishing with one shoulder tab. Fortunately, I had enough of the color run left to finish the second shoulder tab on the front. Then I worked down in the round to finish one leg (making sure to start at the beginning of a color so the other leg could match - have I mentioned that I can be a little anal about these things) :) For the second leg, I pulled yarn until I found the same starting point and made a matching second leg.
Luckily, the yarn not used between the two leg sections was perfect for the back of the overalls.
The shrug is a simple rectangle trimmed with the same yarn as the overalls.
I STILL had yarn left so I made toe up socks from the formula I have come up with and I ended up with 10 feet total of unused yarn.
So who among you wouldn’t spend at LEAST $27 on a 4 piece baby outfit that looks this great.
The smaller size (20” chest) is made with 4 ply yarn on 3.75mm needles and the larger size (21.5” chest) is made with 6 ply (dk) yarn on 4mm needles.
I chose to self-trim the smaller one to see how far the yarn would go and was pleased to find that, if trimmed with a yarn like Sirdar Snuggly 4 ply, a shrug could definitely be made to match the romper.
There is also enough yarn in the 6 ply yarns to self trim if a shrug is not desired.
