Rong-Yi (荣毅 – meaning “glory” or “honour”) is an intelligent young dragon from the mountains of Western China. Like those born in the Year of the Dragon, he is charming, confident and naturally lucky. He hopes that some of his luck may rub off on you in the year to come!

Pattern made for Chinese New Year 2024 (Year of the Dragon)

For this pattern you will need:

  • 50g red DK yarn
  • 10g pale blue DK yarn
  • 10g mid blue DK yarn
  • 20g gold DK yarn
  • Around 180cm grey DK yarn
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook (UK 9, US E/4)
  • 15 mm safety eyes
  • Stuffing
  • 45cm craft wire and cutters (optional)
  • Darning needle
  • Any crochet hook smaller than 3.5 mm to weave in loose ends
  • Stitch markers to keep track of the end of your most recent round (and to help you place the safety eyes)

Difficulty: some moderately complex stitches. Smaller components may be a little fiddly. Involves some use of surface crochet and (optionally) the use of craft wire.
