This listing is for my rooster crochet pattern. This life-sized rooster amigurumi pattern makes for a fun project for intermediate, as well as seasoned amigurumi enthusiasts.

PLEASE NOTE: This project requires a sturdy wire, such as gardening wire to reinforce the rooster’s legs. You could also use wire coat hangers.

SIZE: The rooster will be about 28cm/11” long, 17 cm/6.7” wide, and 36 cm/14” tall from toes to comb if using the indicated hooks and yarns. You could however up or downscale him by using a different yarn weight and hook size.

CONSTRUCTION: The feet, legs, body, head, wings, and tail are crocheted in one piece, or crocheted on.
The beak, comb, and wattles are sewn on.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

• Scheepjes Stone Washed XL:

  • Blue Apatite or other worsted weight / aran yarn in blue (3 skeins = 225m/246yd)

  • Morganite or other worsted weight / aran yarn in light orange or peach (2 skeins = 150m/164yd)

  • Malachite or other worsted weight / aran yarn in green (2 skeins = 150m/164yd)

  • Coral or other worsted weight / aran yarn in dark orange or rusty orange (1 skein = 75m/82yd)

  • Garnet or other worsted weight / aran yarn in burgundy or berry tones (1 skein = 75m/82yd)

  • Brown Agate or other worsted weight / aran yarn in brown (1 skein = 75m/82yd)

  • Beryl or other worsted weight / aran yarn in yellow (1 skein = 75m/82yd)

  • Moonstone or other worsted weight / aran yarn in cream (small remnant)

  • Scheepjes Catona:

  • Yellow Gold or other Sport / 4-ply or light worsted / DK yarn in yellow (1 x 10g skein = 25m/27yd)

  • Poppy Rose or other Sport / 4-ply or light worsted / DK yarn in red (1 x 10g skein = 25m/27yd)

  • 3.5mm crochet hook / Size E-4

  • 2.5mm crochet hook / Size B-1 or C-2 depending on how tightly you crochet

  • 5mm black safety eyes

  • 2m/2.2yd sturdy wire (1 to 2mm diameter sturdy garden wire from the garden centre, no flimsy aluminium crafting wire, so the rooster can stand on his feet. You could also use wire coat hangers.)

  • Flat pliers to bend the wire

  • Fiberfill

  • A small amount of yellow embroidery floss

  • Large-eyed sewing needle

  • Stitch markers

  • Yarn needle (preferably with bent tip)

  • Sewing pins

  • Scissors
