This pattern is for Toe-up magic loop socks. It requires chart reading, as welll as an understanding of knit and purl stitches and the magic loop method of knitting in the round. It employs a Turkish cast-on, and fleegle heel for toe-up socks. Links to video tutorials for the Turkish Cast-on and a method for closing the gap between heel and instep when returning to knitting in the round after completing the heel are provided.

Skill level is advanced beginner to intermediate but Rope Bridges has just enough pattern to keep even experienced sock knitters engaged.

The pattern is written for 5 sizes, fitting foot circumferences of 7.5 (8, 5.8, 9, 9.5) inches that utilize 56 (60, 64, 68, 72) stitches respectively. It includes written directions and has charts for each size. It calls for size US 1 needles or needles to achieve the gauge.

One skein of fingering weight sock yarn (400yds./100 g) and a pair of circular needles 32” or longer will be needed. You’ll want a yarn with a fairly high twist and at least some nylon for wearability. Yarns in solid, variegated, speckled, and tonal colorways are perfect for the Rope Bridges Sock. The sample socks were knit using Cascade Heritage solids (75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon) in plum.
