She sat on her front porch, sipping tea while she watched the sun rise over the hill. Looking down at the delicately painted roses on her grandmother’s teacup, she was reminded that her own roses would be blooming soon. Her heart was filled with warm thoughts.
Rosalie is a cuff down sock with a modified broderie anglaise pattern throughout that mimics the roses on my teacup. The traditional broderie anglaise pattern has been adapted to reflect roses that are spaced more apart, as they appear on my cup.
This pattern is written for 50, 60, 70 and 80 stitches. A ten stitch pattern repeat is used, making it difficult to adjust the number of stitches in the pattern. If your usual stitch count is not included in the pattern, I recommend choosing the next size up, since this stitch pattern is tighter than stockinette. You can also go up a needle size and cast on few stitches than usual.
I would love to see your interpretation of this pattern. What color will your Rosalie socks be? Do you have a lovely teacup that will inspire your yarn choice?
