Rose Quartz
For the winter season, I have designed something simple… a light, yet warm layering piece in only one subtle color which goes with everything (or at least a lot) in your wardrobe.
The open front cardigan is knitted bottom-up (but nearly seamless) and shaped by branching lines of increases and decreases in Brioche, which create visual interest and, combined with a set of short rows, at the same time ensure a perfect fit of the drop shoulder. Ribbing at the hem and cuffs are small details which complete the classic piece.
Needle size and gauge:
- 3,5mm for Brioche: 18 sts/ 44 rows on 10cm after washing and a light, length-wise blocking.
Row gauge is not critical at all – simply knit a few rows more or less.
- 3,0mm for edges (1x1 rib and Garter)
Yarn requirements:
350/ 350-400/ 400/ 400/ 450/ 450/ 500 g of De Rerum Natura Ulysse (100% Merino, 185 meters/ 50 grams), or approximately 1250/ 1300/ 1400/ 1500/ 1600/ 1700/ 1800 m of any other sport weight yarn which is not too heavy and a bit elastic (preferably wool or a wool blend). BC Semilla Melange or Filcolana Pernilla would be a good substitute.
Measurements in cm are provided wherever relevant for shaping the cardigan so choose any yarn you like!
The cardigan is intended to be worn with a bit of ease. There is a distance of 8 sts (10 sts at cast-on) = 4,5cm between two adjacent sizes.
Available sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL
Bust width ranges from 85cm (XS) to 140cm (XXXL).
