This cowl is knit in the round on circular needles. The lace pattern is one repeat of 28 rows. Basic lace knitting is helpful but you can search for video tutorials on line to help if needed. The added beads are optional. You can also knit this up in one color.

My main color yarn had a total of 378 yds. in the skein. I used less than that and a very small amount of my contrasting color. The border is only 8 rows. Including the border and making the cord drawstring - I still came under 378 yds. Any fingering weight yarn will do beautifully.

The eyelet around the neckline allows for a cord or ribbon to gather up around your neckline as much or as little as you want - but not necessary. My cord was made using a Lucet. It was very easy to use and faster than knitting an I-cord but you can also crochet a drawstring, use a pretty soft ribbon, or knit an I-cord over 3 stitches on smaller needles.

The pattern is a repeat of 12 stitches around. If you want to lengthen or shorten the cowl just add or eliminate a set or two of 12 stitches as the lace pattern and fan border are 12 stitch repeats.

I had attended a sunrise service one Easter morning at Rose Tree Park. The time spent with friends on that morning as the sun was rising has remained a very happy memory for many years. The colors and shading in this yarn reminded me so of that early morning sunrise, being with friends, singing and enjoying an awesome celebration together.
