Rosebud Baby Cardigan
Does anybody remember dresses from the 90s that had little rosebuds or rosettes sewn on? As I was making this sweater, I had a flashback to admiring the pink rosettes on my sister’s dress.
My last bobble sweater reminded me of bubble tea and now this one reminds me of teeny tiny rosebuds. We’ll see what the next one reminds me of.
This is written to fit at about 6 - 9 months and the construction is very similar to my bubble tea bobble sweater. The most notable difference is the buttons over the ties and the bobbles start on the yoke. I crocheted bobbles at random and have written them out here for you. You are more than welcome to add/remove bobbles as you see fit.
The main colour is carried behind the bobble sts and I cut off the yarn for each bobble. As expected, this resulted in a lot of ends to weave in. You may want to reduce the number of bobbles to minimize your weaving. If you are not worried about yarn coming loose, you could cut the bobble yarn, tie it off and crochet the main colour around it as you go. Choose whatever makes the most sense to you!
I have included approximate measurements for the button band - feel free to customize this as you see fit. You could even use the instructions for cardigan ties in my bubble tea sweater.
I used exactly one skein of James C. Brett Innocence DK and leftover Lion Band Coboo/Loops & Threads Meandering Serpentine for the rosebuds (bobbles).
