What is more iconic for Valentine’s Day than Roses and Chocolates? For my 2023 Valentines Day themed design I chose to go with this pretty red, pink and brown color scheme for a large triangular crochet shawl. The main shawl yarn color is a very wearable beige, and the pretty second section is the colors of roses and chocolates plus the main yarn color.

I think you will have fun with this simple stitch pattern that starts at the bottom point with just a few stitches. As you crochet through the rows the shawl grows upward and outward and then when you reach the end point you start the second section and add the colors of roses and chocolates.

For my shawl I chose the very soft Berroco Vintage DK yarn in four colors. Vintage DK comes in a very wide variety of color options so that you can find your perfect colors if you choose to use different colors.

Using Berroco Vintage DK you will need 705 total yards (275 grams). That includes two skeins at 580 yards (200 grams) of the section one main yarn color, and one skein each of three accent colors using 75 yards (25 grams) of each. This is also a shawl that you can make using DK weight yarn from your stash, and you can easily adapt this pattern to other yarn weights if you wish because the end point for the first section is measured.

This is truly a no-stress shawl pattern-- the stitch patterns are simple and the section one stitch pattern flows seamlessly into the section two stitch pattern, and best of all the yarn is very economical to purchase. I think you will enjoy this design because you can relax and crochet with very little counting!
