RosieMac Overlay Mosaic Afghan
RosieMac is worked in the normal overlay mosaic row by row technique.
Rosiemac was designed for my very good friend and cousin-in-law, Rose Ann. She asked for a blanket to go outside on her garden furniture – so the RosieMac was born and aptly named after a really lovely lady.
Rosiemac, whilst designed as a blanket would make a brilliant rug too - if crocheted in nice strong cotton!
The PDF has 8 easy-to-read charts and corresponding written instructions.
Two PDFs are available - one using US terms and one using UK terms.
You can use any yarn and corresponding hook you like for this pattern, just remember a tighter tension is better for mosaic crochet.
If using Red Heart Super Saver, you will need approximately 12 skeins for the main body of the blanket (including a 3-row
double border)
- 6 skeins for Colour A (364 yards per skein) = total of 2184 yards
- 6 skeins for Colour B (364 yards per skein) = total of 2184 yards
If using Stylecraft Special Aran, you will need approximately 20 skeins for the main body of the blanket (including a 3-row
double border)
- 10 skeins for Colour A (214 yards per skein) = total of 2140 yards
- 10 skeins for Colour B (214 yards per skein) = total of 2140 yards
This will create a blanket of approximately 122cm wide x 165cm tall - including the border.
You can of course create any width you want, but the pattern means that the height will always be the same. So you could create a table runner, wall hanging or scarf if you prefer.
I hope you enjoy creating your own RosieMac Blanket.

Happy Crocheting
